Show icons in the Gnome menu on Ubuntu 9.10

One of the changes in the version of Gnome used by Ubuntu 9.10 is that not all of the gnome-menu entries have icons displayed next to them by default. If you prefer to have these icons then these very simple instructions should help.
Open the "System" menu, choose "Preferences" and then choose "Appearance". Navigate to the "Interface" tab and check the box marked "Show icons in menus". Close the window to finish. The changes should take effect immediately.
